Kids in the Kitchen
This is one of our most popular programs. Youth register for one of the available Series of three cooking nights. YOMA will provide many of the ingredients for the night. Youth log on at the designated time and follow along with our cooking instructor in the comfort of their own kitchens, supervised by a parent. Please read the descriptions of each Series to understand what skill level is expected to help our young cooks feel successful.
Kids in the Kitchen 2022
Kids in the Kitchen is online cooking classes for youth age 10 -17 years. Supervised by a parent or guardian, youth participants prepare the recipe of the week in the comfort of their own kitchens, following along with our live instructor, on Zoom. Each Series of cooking classes focusses on teaching or enhancing cooking, kitchen and food handling skills. We may incorporate some new and lesser known ingredients to try. We plan to cook from scratch as much as possible. Occasionally we may have guest food producers join us with some interesting information about what they raise or grow.

How it works:
- Youth register through Eventbrite. There are limited spaces available so we recommend registering early.
- The day before each cooking night, we send out an email indicating what pantry items we expect you to have and what kitchen items and equipment are needed and any prep work the youth can do.
- On cooking day, we will deliver ingredients in the late afternoon to your front door in a cooler bag.
*NOTE Delivery is free for homes 15 km or less from Manotick. There may be a small delivery fee requested for
any participants more than 16 km from Manotick.
It is expected that someone will be home to collect the ingredients and make sure to refrigerate anything that requires it.
- Youth login at 5:30 for the class. The class will conclude no later than 7:00 pm.

*NOTE By registering their youth for the program, parents will accept responsibility for supervising their youth, for making sure
ingredients are stored properly and that kitchen items and equipment are in good, sound working condition.

Each series offers a different theme. Please read the descriptions for the series before registering to make sure your youth's abilities are in line with the program to help ensure their success.
